Rhys Paul Hovey
Creator of video game ‘Synth’ relies on Waldorf Rhys Paul Hovey’s life is all about games – video games to be more precise. He worked for EA, Ubisoft and Rockstar; developed the video game ‘Synth’ and is currently working on the concept for a new action adventure game for laptops.
Waldorf technology has always played a major role for him in his work. His large equipment contained a Microwave XT-30, a Micro-Q; and lately a Waldorf Largo. He says about them… “Generally I like the Waldorf Wavetable Synthesizers like the Microwave XT for their flexibility, stability and their great potential for sound design.”
Which meant that during the development of the video game ‘Synth’, his Waldorf gear played a central role. He said that a lot of Samples in ‘Synth’ are based on melodies he created with Waldorf instruments.
Rhys Paul Hovey is particularly excited about working with Largo, the latest Waldorf sound engine that now contain a lot of waveforms which weren’t available in the Q-Series. He says “I’m very pleased with Largos’ huge sound library. I can find many usable sounds and that is one of Waldorf’s great strength.”
It is little wonder then that Rhys Paul Hovey is looking forward to work with Largo on new soundtracks for future game developments.
